Foundations in Directive Communication Mini-course

Introduction to Directive Communication

Directive Communication is a training and organisational psychology that affects how people act and react in groups and teams. It is a foundational science for influencing team/group dynamics to cultivate high performance cooperative work cultures and leadership across any people related discipline within an organization.

The Directive Communication methodology incorporates the latest breakthroughs in motivational and genetic psychology . It sets a structure to identify key factors that create individual and group reactions that reduce effectiveness.

The system promotes awareness of personal actions that provoke unconstructive group reactions. Individuals then discover how to modify small behaviors to affect the group to draw out enhanced personal behaviors. Others in the group are also affected with a greater ability to positively interact with those in the group.

When Directive Communication is applied in training, the groups being trained learn as they become aware, not as they are instructed. Behavior modification then becomes easier to apply.

The following 7 elements of this Directive Communication Mini-Course will give you the structure to maximize the awareness of YOUR environment so that it brings out the best in you.

7 Cultivating your Environment

Become an Inspirational Leader

Leadership is a product of awareness and command of the reactions and influences of a group on the individual.

Leadership is NOT about changing the mindset of the group but in the cultivation of an environment that brings out the best (inspires) the individuals in that group… Each individual has various environments that bring out different facets from their own Identity, and each facet is driven by emotionally charged perceptions within each environment… To lead, one must create a platform through education and awareness where individuals fill each others needs. This is accomplished by knowing Why people may react favorably to a situation in environment A, but get frustrated or disillusioned in environment B.

When a leader changes their actions in accordance with their awareness of what those actions really mean, they affect the emotional and perceptive affects on a group. By taking control of the “standard” reactions to the actions of the group, a leader can in effect change the psychology of the group and change the culture of the organization.

The 8 Ascents of an Inspirational Leader

  • Identify your Rules of Engagement
  • Increase your Circle of Tolerance

  • Stop Need Sucking

You must speak a common language

You must have a technology you believe can make a difference.

If you have applied some of what you have learned earlier, if you have become more aware and have increased your circle of Tolerance, then this works for you.

You must maintain internal supportive environment

As an elite group that shares and uses this psychology, you can excel far greater than as an individual. Supporting one another is essential for ultimate success.

You must have a unified identity

While each individual has his/her own identity, the collective group must have a common goal and thus, a common identity in line with that goal. This can be as simple as “The Efficiency Group”…

Each pillar represents a essential characteristic of groups capable of bringing out the best in each other. With the basics you have learned in this mini-course, you have the foundations to make it happen. But, there must be a leader, and for now, that leader must be YOU.
